Sugar esters as biosurfactants have the capability of reducing the surface tension and promoting emulsification of liquids. However, the molecular structure of single sugar esters is still a problem that exists and restricts use in certain applications. In this work, glucosyl ester biosurfactants were synthesized via the esterification of glucose with different N-fatty acyl glycines in THF/n-hexane co-solvent using Novozyme 435 as catalysts. The effects of catalyst type, reaction temperature, reaction time and reuse of lipase on the reaction were screened to ensure the optimal reaction conditions. The products were characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance and mass spectrometry. Surface tension, critical micelle concentration, and emulsifying properties were also measured for all the samples, showing excellent performance. |
